Over a century of dependable electrical solutions.

Danard’s story is defined by decades of growth and change in the electrical industry. What began as a small family-run hardware and electrical shop grew through generations of hands-on experience, leadership transitions, and an ongoing ability to adapt to new technologies and market needs. From early electrical work and service-based projects to complex commercial construction, design-build, and modern preconstruction services, Danard’s history tells a story of steady growth built on integrity, skilled execution, and lasting relationships.

Early Foundations

1900-1947

Danard’s roots trace back to Chase Danard’s hardware store in the early 1900s, where electrical work began to take shape as the industry developed. Building on that foundation, his son, Ben Danard gained hands-on field experience and formally established Danard Electric Company in 1947, creating the business that continues today.

Growth & Adaptation

1947-1972

Following the founding of Danard Electric Company, Ben Danard built the business as a family-run operation, balancing field work with the day-to-day responsibilities of a growing company. As demand increased, Danard moved into its first dedicated building in 1962 and continued to expand by adapting to industry shifts—taking on electrical heating retrofits, factory work, and service station projects—while remaining closely involved with the National Electrical Contractors Association to strengthen both the business and the trade.

Expansion & Complexity

1972-1986

As Ben Danard prepared for retirement, the company transitioned to Danard Electric, Inc., with leadership passing to his son-in-law Ed Doyle, supported by long-time employee Dan Seelye. During this period, Danard began taking on larger and more complex projects, including major renovations such as the historic Paradise Inn at Mount Rainier and the Tacoma Dome Hotel, marking a clear shift toward a broader commercial role within the regional construction industry.

Diversification & Innovation

1986-2018

Building on the foundation established under Ed Doyle, leadership transitioned to Mike Doyle, ushering in a period of steady growth and expansion. Under Mike’s leadership, Danard entered the military, commercial, and light industrial markets. During this period, the company embraced design-build early, developed one of the region’s first prefabrication shops, strengthened its preconstruction capabilities, remained deeply involved in NECA and the Electrical JATC, and launched E-Squared Systems in 2004 to support growing low-voltage and technology needs.

Fourth Generation Today

2018-Present

In 2018, Steve Doyle assumed leadership as the fourth generation of the Danard family, continuing the company’s long-standing focus on adaptation and measured growth. Today, Danard places a strong emphasis on early planning and preparation, using 3D modeling for detailed shop drawings and prefabrication to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and support better outcomes in the field, while remaining committed to the values that have guided the company for more than a century.
